Recently, I went to the bank to deposit a check we received from a really generous partner. The teller read the name of our organization and wanted to know all about what we do. Of course, I was happy to tell him.
Then, he asked me this question: “So, if you take a student who attended public school their whole lives, and a student who attended private school their whole lives, which one do you think would have greater success?”
Of course, the answer is that it fully depends on what the student needs. Some students thrive in public school. But, some need a smaller environment. School should not be one-size-fits-all. Learning to Serve and other school choice programs remove barriers and empower families to make the best decisions for their students.
